Re: Paul Oakenfold Essential Mix World Tour 1999 sets
i remember me and some friends driving from indiana to some ghetto ass club in
hamtramck, mi or something to see oakey and dave ralph, called the detroit motor in, or some shit. i remember that the damn speakers tripped some breaker during the middle of oakeys set and it just went dead silent for a couple of mins until the staff could fix it
plus they had these bigass ghetto speakers on one side of the floor and my left ear was worth jack shit for at least 2 days after. worst after affect from a club in my life.
then dave ralph came out and kicked out some fragma - toca me and some jan johnson - calling your name and it was on...from what i remember. god this had to be like 8 years or so ago now. fun times imo.

Fer - is that Cream (ibiza) set from Oakeys 1995 "The Ku Club" Essential Mix (the club was later re-named Privilige) ? : I had most of it on tape and lost it - that set was an absolute classic, and an indication of how the magic started on the white isle. If anyone has the Ku set or can get it from Soulseek please upload.

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.
Re: Paul Oakenfold Essential Mix World Tour 1999 sets
some timeless shit in there. some of the mixes still give me goosebumps. THe first twenty minutes at the Shadow Lounge? Dope! When he drops Flaming June at Creamfields? absolutely chilling!
you could put an Emfire release on for 2 minutes and you would be a sleep before it finishes - Chunky
it's RA. they'd blow their load all over some stupid 20 minute loop of a snare if it had a quirky flange setting. - Tiddles
Re: Paul Oakenfold Essential Mix World Tour 1999 sets
Agreeing on all these comments, back then Oakenfold was the man for sure. Sydney has to be the best mix of all of them, anyone that opens with Narcotik-Blue is alright by me. I loved that track so much I saw a CD by some DJ called Sasha that had it on it - the rest is history..............
I was actually at the Creamfields event as well that year - trust me when Flaming June was dropped there were actually people crying. He had the whole dance world in his hand back then.

Yeah i was at that gig as well it seriously went off that night. Flaming June was the first track Oakenfold played on the very first night of his residency at Cream. He used to open with it at Cream a lot. So it meant a lot to a lot of people there. That was a brilliant night. Oakenfold finished his set and we ran over to see Sasha in the Golden area who turned up late so we got his full set as well.

^ Yeah same here, although the Sasha tent was so rammed it was ridiculous! I pretty much spent most of the day in that tent, seeing Cattaneo (warm up DJ back then!), Warren, Seaman, Hybrid then Sasha (can't remember if Digweed was there).
Seems like every man and his dog played 'Heaven Scent' that day too!
