All President's do this...no one should be surprised or outraged.

although 100% true, I think it carries special significance with Bush because one of the primary criticisms of Bush -- at least one of my primary criticisms -- is that he believes he is above the law, and that the rule of law does not apply to him or those do his bidding. This puts an exclamation point on that perception, IMO.

really good article. Hilary Clinton's hypocrisy was definitely not lost on me, but I had not considered the views of those defending Clinton's lie but wanting to see Libby hang and vice-versa. I thought this was spot on:

"There appears to be rank hypocrisy at work here on both sides of the political spectrum," said Joe Gaylord, a GOP consultant who worked for House Speaker Newt Gingrich during impeachment. "It causes Americans to shake their heads in disgust at the political system."

The problem is that media try to create an impression what Libby has done is a
debate issue. And this is another sign of severe polarization of american politics.

The truth obviously isn't important anymore, Bush set himself above the legal justice.
Does democracy still exist in this country?
