    Is there a Sydney gig?

Pappa is #2 in the world after Digweed in my eyes.

Hernan is No 1 for me!! That was reafirmed last week with that amazing set he did at Brown Alley!! But it was a toss up between Hernan's JJJ mix and Pappa's Sweet Chilli set [very similar to ours at Brown Alley] for mix of the year for me.. Hernan won!! I'd be very surprised if you don't get a Sydney gig. Digweed doesn't do it for me anymore.

I think Sweetchilli are putting on Pappa in Sydney at Famous/Home. This I hope would mean a main room set and a more intimate set in the sweet chilli room on the night, fingers crossed.

Pappa at Home imediately stirs up memories of his amazing Livewire performance, but then that was a Prog night for Prog lovers with all the straglers attending 360 at the Hordern. What troubles me is Pappa in amongst a rather un-aware crowd of punters at Famous, I hope and pray this doesn't affect his sound, because to me he's right up there! (Number 2 behind Hernan :P)

I wouldn't have thought a famous crowg d would haven been appropriate for Pappa. We definitely look after our prog djs better down here.!! Brown Alley will be perfect! I'm starting to get a little excited about this now. !!!

WOOT, thank god he wasn't on at Famous. I caught the man himself at "The Cross" in Kings Cross (try telling that to a Sydney Cabbie!)

Pappa's been copping alot of criticism of late, some call his style boring and uninspirinig, others state that its a more detailed interpretation of progression, and a totally different offering to a Lawler/Sasha/Warren set.

I for one fell in love with his sound last year when he played at the Basement, and for me that will always be the benchmark for progressive house, alas he didn't live up to my lofty expectations. While he certainly wasn't boring I did find him a tad guilty of being a touch repetitive. This of course is me trying to apply a slight critique on a man who has more musical ability in his eye brows than I do in my whole body. His mixing for me is the best I have ever heard, and his programming in the last hour was oh so good, as such I thank him for gracing our shores, and would most certainly check him out again when hes next in town.

^^^ As you may know he played for over 5 hours down here. He played some amazing music but I would have to agree with you on the repetitive thing. I actually thought he didn't structure his set as well as he could have. Possibly because he played longer than originally intended. Still all in all he is a fabulous Dj !! I think after Hernan's set, which just flowed amazing!!, I expected the same thing from Pappa and they are different. I would definitely go see him again!! In fact I am!! On 4th August.!! He and Phil K are doing a 4 hr Versus set at Sunny.

Should be very interesting . No sure how it will work, they are two very different Djs.!!

Do you mean a touch repetitive because he played lots of minimal stuff or he played the same sort of tracks?

It didn't work They have totally different styles of music and I thought Phil K pulled Pappa down!! Someone should tell Phil K that there is a little thing called melody and the D in EDM stands for DANCE!! And, jeez would it hurt him to smile occasionally!!
