The most common program to edit and create pfd files is the Adobe Acrobat program. It?s available here: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
I have a link where you can convert a word file to pdf (for free) and will look for it later at home and post the link here.Comment

You can convert DOC, RTF, XLS, PPT and TXT files to PDF with it for free. Just enter a valid Email and the pdf file will be sent to it. I used this site a hundred times so far already and never got a spam mail btw so I think it is safe.

you have to install adobe acrobat, then you can make pdf's from from programs like word, photoshop, autocad etcComment

install a postsript printer like Apple Color LaserWriter 16/600 and use GhostView to create the pdf.
