I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me

      Re: 1080i vs 1080p

I have been selling televisions for 3 years. 1080p is hands down the better technology. Go into a retail store and take a look at a 1080p flat panel latched onto a 1080p source. It is unmatched. However, good luck getting television broadcast in 1080p, not gonna happen for another 10 years.
      Cheers!

1080p is definitely better than 1080i, in a technical sense. However, in terms of what is broadcast in the US, buying a quality 720p TV is relatively as good as a 1080p b/c US broadcasts are usually not transmitted in any 1080 format, with the exception of a few cable channels like INHD.

          Re: 1080i vs 1080p

1080p for sure. It is the highest HD standard available. As mentioned, TV signal will not be in that format, but how often do you plan on buying a TV? I buy a TV about every 5 years. I am still waiting for my first HDTV, I need the HD world to cool and standardize more. There are still so many things up in the area. For instance, the new Sony Bravia comes in at 120 frames per second, which is over kill for the human eye. The true application benefit for this is stereoscopy vision. This technology can lift images of the screen as if 3-D. Though Sony claims it is using the 120hz to smooth motion. The true application benefit would be stereoscopy.

Even the HDMI cables are changing, 1.3 being the new standard. ugh.

TVs have become like PC's, dont even try to keep up with the technology.
