    DJing My first gig

Last night I played out for the first time at a local venue. The owner mentioned it was going to be a slow night but he wanted to see me play live before he booked me for an actual event. Basically I called up a few friends and they were just hanging out while I played for about 2 hours before some other local guy took over.

It was my first time using CDJ1000s and I'll admit I crashed two or three times, but overall I found playing out to be pretty awesome as well as hearing some tracks on a big sound system. Best of all the owner said he liked the music and he'll be giving me a call in the future. Overall it was a great experience, can't wait to do it again.

nice man! I've had one of those nights before, just one, and the system and equipment sucked ass, but it was a decent experience for me. Wish it could have been better.

But anyway, congrats and hopefully the guy calls you soon!

Ah man my first gig was a disaster, i brouight some tech-house and techno records, only to be playing after a funky house dj....nightmare..so got right in2 it anyway, i played a record with the word "Fuck" repeatedly throught out the chorus, the manager asked me to turn it off , i turned it up!! lol...needless to say it was my last gig here..

make sure to call the owner back soon to tell him thank you again. It's all about keeping in touch and letting the owner know that you are a good guy.

First off, thanks for all your comments/input. I already got booked for another gig at the same place but unfortunately they were forced by the city to shut down.

The owners were also running a hip hop club (Serenity Lounge) in the building adjacent which has had high profile incidents of violence over the past few months. The last straw came when yet another patron was shot and the city took their operating license (which disabled them from running both places) just a couple of days ago.

This place was the closest thing in the area to a club with decent edm. Now I get to miss out on any sort of decent edm they would bring into this area and the opportunity to gain experience djing myself. Just because of some hip-hop assholes...this blows.

wow, that name, "Serenity Lounge" doesn't sound like a place you'd hear hip hop in. Sounds more like a chill club.
