toasty, hit me up, I'm living here for the year. I've never heard of those passes working or not working...but it will be one of the busiest weekends around. Great pool party at Tao that weekend during the day...loads of great parties all around, Dubfire at the pool on Sunday at Hard Rock...I just don't like the vibe over there...and great afterhours also. Great restaurant choices too. HAve lunch or dinner at Mon Ami Gabi at your hotel, sit on the patio and enjoy the bellagio fountains across the street, very romantic. Just play it by ear and relax. www.spyonvegas.com has some listings. I always love the party at Revolution lounge on Sundays. Digitalboy opens for miguel migs, dboy is really good, and the vibe at that club is awesome every time. Moon and pure that weekend will be a hellish line unless you get in with a door person/vip host. Most people will prob be at Jet Sun and Mon for Tiesticles...so that could weed out some of the douchebag factor at the other places...
That tuesday I'll prob be at Moon in the house room with Digitalboy and my friends that work there, if you're still in town...
      Peace.

it's sharam @ rehab and when i found that out, i quit even bothering with trying to find a way in. however, as soon as i found out dubfire is gonna be at drai's on sunday night i purchased a handful of tickets. i anticipate it being the highlight of the trip.

go to tryst. beautiful club with a 100 foot waterfall inside.

a bunch of us did the bachelor menu at nine in the palms a couple weeks ago. best meal i've ever had. the steak was amazing, and everyone i talk to recommends eating there.

i heard both of deep dish will be at hard rock. need to contact my friend@yoshi. will post an update. for a large group of guys a good connect or cabanas is the only way to get into rehab. the cabana fee is min 500 then 1800 worth of liquor, but of course that is subject to change

rain was ok. go to pure or tao instead.

mandalay bay is an awesome hotel. try to get the large 2 bedroom suites with a strip view. incredible. it's cool seeing the colors of the city come up as the night nears. the pool at the mandalay is really nice, and they have a private topless pool thats 50 to get into. it goes off.

and for the bachelor parties, don't forget about spearamint rhinos.

75 bucks at Rehab and 75 bucks at Drai's just to hear P.A.T.T., does not sound like a wise investment.

                  Re: Vegas, Baby

just learned that LAX is opening at Luxor Friday night, and it will be hosted by none other than Britney Spears herself. I have to admit, the part of me that is expecting her to completely lose her shit any minute now kinda wants to go in the event it happens that evening. A big part of Vegas is experiencing things you can't experience anywhere else, and that's probably the only time in my life I'll even have the option of watching a celebutard crash and burn before my very eyes, in person. She's been in her death spiral for months, it's gotta be coming to an end soon, right?

Of course, to do this I'd actually have to attend an event hosted by Britney Spears and probably pay through the nose for the privilege, so I'm not sure it's totally up my alley.

hmm ceasar's has two good restaurants. bobby flay's restaurant Mesa, and there is another awesome restaurant there even better than that one, Bradley Ogden's.

then go to a bar like pure (but only if you can pay for bottle service or get there early and not wait in line). then drai's late night.

                        Re: Vegas, Baby

Had a great time, although it was probably a bit less on the drunken-revelry side of things than previous trips. The clubs were packed, so I really didn't end up doing any of that at all. My wife wanted to see the Pussycat Dolls Lounge at Caesar's, so we did that, but otherwise we stayed out of the bars/clubs/lounges.

I think the highlight for both my wife and I was Cirque du Soleil's "Ka" show at MGM. We sat in the 5th row, dead center. It was seriously the most impressive thing I've ever seen in my life. Even apart from the show itself, the technology involved in making that whole thing happen was difficult to comprehend. For those that haven't seen it, the stage itself -- which is huge -- flips on end, spins, turns and is very much an active participant in the show. There is unfortunately nothing I could say that would really capture how amazing and cool it was. For anyone that hasn't seen it, it is well worth the time and money to check it out.

We also went to a live Price is Right show at Bally's. That was really entertaining, my wife got called down to contestant's row, got up on stage and everything.

From a dining standpoint, we went to Mon Ami Gabi at Paris, Fin at Mirage, Tao at Venetian, Tom Colicchio's Craftsteak at MGM, and Michael Mina at Bellagio (along with a few other less fancy places). Tao gets the nod for atmosphere, but Michael Mina's place delivered an experience that transcends simply eating a kick ass meal. We did the tasting menu, which included ahi tuna tartare, lobster potpie, a trio of Kobe beef ribeyes, and a couple of other courses, all paired with wines specially selected to complement the dishes. We were with another couple, and the total for the 4 of us was more than the mortgage payment on my first house -- and that's unfortunately not hyperbole -- but it was an experience I'll never forget. It was amazing to me how much better both food and wine become when you have someone that really knows what they're doing pairing them. Well worth the absurd price.

Craftsteak was awesome as well, but we went there the night after going to Mina's place, so it kinda paled in comparison. Were it not for that, I'd be raving about that, too.

Apart from that, we did some of the standard touristy Vegas stuff -- up the Eiffel Tower to watch the Bellagio fountains, rode the gondola through the Venetian, saw the Treasure Island pirate show, etc., etc. Was my wife's first time there, so had to do it. As an aside, I'm not sure what they did to the pirate show at TI, but it fucking blew. Not that it was really anything to write home about before, but this new show affirmatively sucked. It was free, but I still feel like I got ripped off.

Great time all in all! Didn't come out ahead gambling, but didn't lose my ass, either. As I tell people, I lost an acceptable amount of money. Had fun doing it, too.

Vegas, baby -- no place like it on earth...

good to hear you had fun. i had some friends come in town this weekend and my wife and i treated them to the different vegas scene. when i used to party with my boys it was all about party and clubs, but this time we went to O and the beatles show (both kicked ass) and then we went to sushi roku for lunch, fleur de lys for dinner, and again aureole for dinner.
a dinner at a superstar chef restaurant really is an extravagant experience, and like you said the wine pairings are fantastic. we're going back to craftsteak on thursday for dinner and afterwards they have a scotch tasting event.

What's cool about Vegas is that there's so much to do for everyone. Gamblers like it for obvious reasons, great shows, a big night life scene(mostly open format though), great restaurants and tourist attractions like gondola rides and roller coasters.

Let's see I live in Vegas
and spend most of the Labor Day weekend
out of town at shows. Granted if you can pay to play
then this town is pretty fun. The shows here are overpriced
150.00 for Love or KA or Phantom seems excessive.
But thanks for paying my state taxes.
