    "I Love You"

I was having this conversation with a friend of mine and I was just wondering what you guys may think....want to know the male perspective.

If you are in a serious relationship where "I love you" has been said and felt by both peope, is there a point where it can be said to often? Is saying it every day at some point (at the end of the day before going to bed, over the phone, before you head off to work, etc.) too much? Does it lose its impact so to speak, when it becomes just part of the routine?

My mom was always one to say it everyday as she was always told by her mother that you should tell the people you love that you love them everyday as you never know when it may be the last time....its kinda morbid if you think about it, but it makes sense as well.

    What are your thoughts?

i agree it might get repeated a bit much at times, but saying it too much can't hurt. there's definitely a difference between saying it to end a phone call and when you're sitting together on the couch, out at dinner, or climbing a roller coaster. it can't be said enough

No. I'd put a fucking neon sign on my head that said "I Love You" for my wife if it were possible. You can never say it too much when you mean it and it's mutual.

My wife and I always say it at night last thing before going to bed. I never give it much thought, unless she doesn't say it, then I know I am in trouble.
It's never too late to become the person you always thought you would be.

          ^^^ lol!

That made me think of this line from a movie, I think it was called the magician or something like that....in the movie he says I love you to his wife, she looks into his eyes and then says "not today you don't"

awe that is sweet! There need to be more men like you! haha

So if that is the case, if someone thinks the other is saying it to much, do you think it means the person saying that isn't really in love or should I say as in love as the other person?

            Best to be positive
            always find the less stated
            the more relationship tension develops

Love is an essential human need. It can be used to take advantage of people. Anyway, I think a persons actions must be loving for them to be taken seriously when saying I love you, simple.

It was fun while it lasted...

that was a line in The Prestige .. anyway i dont think theres ever too much 'I love yous' to be said in a relationship .. i say it to my girlfriend everyday

if u love someone then there isnt a magic number that is too much.

someone knows if you love not by u telling them, but by the way u act.

if u feel uncomfortable with it then maybe its something u need to consider.

Yes it can. Often people (of BOTH genders) will say it to test the integrity of the relationship because there are trust issues or some other inconsistencies that are straining the bond. If you really love someone your actions will show it. We're imperfect beings and often we lean on this phrase to show that even though we didn't help puts the kids to sleep, take the rubbish out etc. somehow uttering, " I love you" will patch everything up.

I reckon it does lose it's impact if it's said routinely. If it becomes routine then it becomes mundane and before long has as much significance as going to the toilet

One thing is saying it, and other very different is really meaning it.
If you say it every time, 5 times per day, it looses its sense, IMO. bye!

But the people who you really love will know you do without you having to reaffirm it everyday. I probably did tell my (ex) girlfriend i loved her everyday, but i know for a fact i thought it several times each day, but didn't feel to need to keep repeating like some kind of mantra.

Having said that, maybe if i'd said it whenever i though it, she wouldn't have dumped me!

Interesting that this topic should come up know...

I?m having a relationship with this girl from work, it all happened extremely fast (like...I started talking to her about 3 weeks ago)...

I?ve left my girlfriend in the meantime (not just because of this relationship, also for a bunch of other reasons) but this girl has a boyfriend who I feel she doesn?t love anymore (she won?t say for sure), and she feels he doesn?t love her either.

Anyway, she hasn?t been able to finish off that relationship yet, she says she?s very confused, but in the meantime me and her are living this really intense relationship, where we?ll meet as often as we can, keep sending text messages to each other whenever we?re not together...I mean the 1st time we kissed I?d swear there was an earthquake, and by now, I?m pretty sure this is the woman I?ve waited for my whole life...and I know she feels strongly about me...but it?s like she?s waiting for ?something? to happen...waiting for me to say or do something.

I want to tell her "I love you" so much, but I?m afraid of it, because I?m afraid I?ll get hurt...it?s something really BIG for me to say...and I?m afraid she won?t say "I love you too".

But I wonder if she?d find the courage to break up with the other guy if I told her how much I love her.

                              Sorry for the long post...
