Jeff Mills has been writing techno sheet music with the Montpelier Philharmonic Orchestra. Videos of ravers getting down to it are on youtube. it's cool stuff... check it out

Not sure if you guys are aware but Oakenfold is responsible for many movie soundtracks that I am sure you would be impressed with (Sword Fish, James Bond, etc.) Just because he is/was a trance dj, doesn't mean he doesn't have talent....he is one of the reasons the acid house sound of the 80/90's came over to the UK...he has done a lot for the industry....he is also in a band, did you know that?
if he actually had a hand in those productions id be shocked...

and yes he was influential to the industry at first...but he chose to sell his soul to pop culture, and for that reason is why i dislike the man...

Sure, it works on many levels, but somehow lacks depth.

^ ^ There were many interviews and articles about that at the time that the Swordfish soundtrack was being worked on. When Oakie was asked, he would dodge answering the questions. That made people really suspicious. I know that Freeland was guilty of that for years as well. He'd pay others to make his music for him.

Re: Pioneering DJ sets sights on Hollywood

I don't like his attitude as well but I am not negating the fact that he produced good music in the past and this will be more a producer than DJ thingie after all. The Swordfish movie soundtrack was delicious, his early EM were a pure mind trip full of diversity and his radio show (forgot the name) where he played fitting EDM tracks in the background while a story teller told a fairy tale were awesome if you were in the right mood. He has a feeling for moods and atmosphere so this venture - though mixing classic and EDM is not new as Adam said which I must admit - is still rare so I am looking forward to it. I can be dissapointed later when I heard it - or be surprised that it is actually good. I just think this is a playground he could do something with if he is already on a non commercial trip (mixing EDM with classics does not bring you up to number 1 on the billboard charts in most cases). But I guess he could do whatever he wants but for [ms] peeps he will always remain Satan. And yes, I know he is a douche but I don't give a shit if the music is good. I also nod my head sometimes to the 1500% commercially produced winner track of the German version of American Idol if I am in the mood so Oakie can't hurt me.

Yeah, so he's lost some of (all off?) his underground credibility, but I'd be interested in listening to the results.

While there was a rough itinerary for the shoot, almost everything filmed was serendipitous, and most "actors" were real-life people that Pardue encountered in character as Victor, including Paul Oakenfold"
