christ this is pointless. Snopes and UL have absolutely no credibility. I read the enitre article before posting, knowing it was absolute nonsense. so why use the quote... to prove there is absolutely no truth behind the site you chose to debate.

Your logic is impeccable. You are trying to prove the site has no credibility, hence you quote a bit that they further down the page prove incorrect.

Does this really make any sense to anyone else? I don't see the point of continuing this unless someone else can jump in and prove your credibility.

gentleman, relax. we all know T. Heinz is rich, and boisterous, and rediculous. she is an embarrassment even to john kerry. she is self destructive, and she will eventually take part in the demise of john kerry. i dont see anybody debating that she is ubiquitous and for such a wealthy woman, without class. we all need to stop looking up bullshit articles on google and start speaking from the gut, including you toasty, ooops i mean lobsterclan. tee hee. *wink

Maybe not completely credible, but more so then UL or Snopes. Snopes took months to decide if the Camel Spider in Iraq was real. It went from false, to undetermined, to true all in a matter of months.

I see both points of view on this. But there is plently of evidence that suggests that the Heinz company has 57 of its 79 food manufacturing facilities outside the US. Not that it matters to me, I could care less. Let the company outsource, if you don't like it, do like millions have done against Nike and boycott.

I know it is kinda funny. Actually Heinz has some factories in the states also. I work at one of them but I am not voting for Kerry or Bush. Have not decided yet. let hope there is a third candidate or I swear I will write someones name on the ballet and vote for them.

              Civic_zen,

Yes I am an American. I was in a hurry and didn't proof read my comments in that post. I will try to be more careful in the future. I am sorry I offended you.

Do you really believe that we should be the world?s policemen? Should we simply replace the UN? Is that really in the best interest of our country or our government? No.

If we believe in democracy and in a fair law system we should do our best to make the UN stronger, with more power. This might not always help us in the short run, but I believe it would help in the long run. It would make our country stronger and better, as well as the global community.

If we had followed the UN process in Iraq we might have figure out that there were no WMD before we attacked. At least we could have benefited from strong support from other countries to share the burden of the war.

Naww don't worry about it. I was in a beanz-esque mood or something. You haven't been on the board long enough to know quite what that means, but he was someone who liked to nit pick on every gramatical or punctuation error, no matter how miniscule.

Still, yes I wish the UN would become what your suggesting here. But it isn't, nor do I believe that it will become that anytime soon. They were in charge of the whole Weapons Inspection thing, not the US, and yet they couldn't even do that right. Saddam decided he didn't want them here, or delayed them for a while there, all the while doing things behind Haans' back. If he wasn't hiding things, he had no reason to act the way he did. And if the UN had any balls, they would have done something about it. Like told Saddam strait up. "We're going here, and there and if you don't like it they we will fine you 10 billion dollars." Whatever, just at least pretend to care. And even after he is fined 10 billion, we still needed to conduct any and every inspection we saw fit.

I still believe, even to this day with all the evidence and blah blah blah, that Bush made the right descision going to Iraq. Its one of the only things he did in office that I agree with, that and the tax cuts. I got like $300 more back from that, and that was $300 I was happy to see.

If/when the UN does the things its supposed to then yes, it could be the world's "police". Until then, if we feel that we are in danger or what have you, we shouldn't hesitate. Hesitating almost made this world a Nazi paradise once upon a time, and I don't care what they say I'm not going to be stuck with the choice of owning a Volkswagon and nothing else. After hearing what Vladimir said and the fact that it was part of the reason we went to war, only reaffirmed everything about the war which I deemed reasonable. Something much more catastrauphic then 9/11 could have happened, and it would have been Saddam that was responsible.

                  Hey DaveTLV...thought this was pointless?

Seems to me many people have views on this topic, so (ahem) i accept ur apology.

Whether or not Heinz outsourced a practically nonperishible product, if unopened, doesnt matter to me. I just wonder what Kerry will do to bring some of those 57 factories back to the US. Fact is, some of us Americans have to get new skills. Some of us need to start new businesses to take advantage of an already trained workforce. We do need policies that favor manufacturing here, but i have serious reservations that Kerry will accomplish that or anything. Look at his senate record! How could a man spend 19 yrs there and talk about it for <5mins during the speech of his life at the DNC meeting?!!!?

The US can be the most educated nation...its all out there for us, but what we're lacking is the motivation. Personally, i get motivated by Bush b/c i've seen him take action for prescription drugs (the first medicare reform since its inception!), overtime pay for salaried workers, marriage defense act....the list is long! Especially in defense where some in the rest of the world have been slacking off regarding Iraq.

I've got a new topic coming up...its sure to start an inferno

                      hi!
                      i have to say that using a US product ( a high-end technology one ) i can see the difference between the times when these products were produced in US ( 4-5 years ago ) and now ( being outsourced ) , now the products are lower as quality;

and manufacturing could be solved but what about the outsourcing of the services, for example a call/contact center?! ..

outsourcing looks shinny but is it for everyone ?
