So how many on here are "addicted" to the www or your technology?
I am a self professed internet and electronics addict. I cant go an hour without checking [ms] (esp if I am seated in close proximity of a PC / Laptop with internet connectivity) or if I'm on one of my monthly 7 hour long haul to visit family, I can't help but check my phone for missed calls/sms/emails.
Seriously, thinking about what could we have done in the pre-electronic / gadget era makes my mind spin. For me, nothing provides more mental stimulation.

I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me

Connecting with others is a basic human need these gadets make connecting more convenient and versatile and thats why you hear people say "I don't know what we ever did without cell phones, internet, etc."

very well put, the underlying essence of "man being a social animal" is definitely well addressed so it only makes it more of a necessity than anything else.

considering i've hit 2000+ posts three times on this message board alone (in addition to the others i frequent), i'd say i may spend a touch too much time getting that sexy 'monitor tan' that the ladies love so much...
Re: So how many on here are "addicted" to the www or your technology?
I don't know if it's so much connecting with people though, or just being addicted to information. You could say we're connecting with people but we're hardly connecting in real-time and there is no face-to-face contact, so a lot of our "connecting" is through an online medium / interface like this forum board, or IM, which is hardly the best representation of human social behavior, unless our social behavior has moved on completely from real-life to cyberspace.
I'm just addicted to the internet and the wealth of information out there. I once spent almost 20 hours of a day online. I can spend hours or the better part of a day just going through my RSS feeds in Google Reader and it never ends because news keep pouring in. Someone described it as a river stream of information.
And I think part of my insomnia could be attributed to having my computer almost next to my bed in the room.

I got pics and video. But I will upload them in the morning. I need to smoke this nice phat joint and just close my eyes and replay the amazingness in my head.

That describes it perfectly for me. I never wonder about anything anymore for more than a few moments, and when that question is answered, it raises questions I didn't even know I had and next thing you know, April has passed.

.
Think about it though, think of the big picture of why or how it becomes addicting, this is my point.

I would say I am...but nothing compared to Chris...he can barely go a few hours without being on his PC. It can be VERY frustrating!

I'm not disagreeing with you dude, but there's addicted to forums / IM / friendster and there's addicted to information / technology?
I'm accessible all the time 24 / 7 thanks to emails, IM and a cell phone but I'm certainly not addicted to connecting / socializing with people I've become a disgruntled 21st century mobile netizen and people expecting me to pick up or answer all the time when they call , pisses me off so much that when I'm in my own time, I studiously refuse the connectivity
But I certainly agree that humans as animals gravitate towards that herd / pack mentality and connecting with another or wanting to belong is innate in us. And technology has made that all too easy.
I want to be that Hero who connects to the internet wirelessly

We don't really connect to one another via all this technology we just communicate with each other. That's why when you talk to lots of teenagers nowadays, one on one, all you get are some disjointed grunts and mumblings. But send them an email or an SMS and suddenly their "tongues" are set free.
