firefox uses like 80-90% of my memory when i watch a video. even after it's loaded
and everything else is closed up. what the fuck
it's a 5 year old machine, so i've only got 700 mhz G3 and 384 MB ram
i had to erase the whole hard drive at some point this past spring.
i refuse to believe that my computer, even though it's a piece of shit, isn't powerful enough to play a video properly. sometimes videos play fine as long as the mouse button is held down.
I'd recommend switching to Camino/Safari as the memory footprint may be lower, which may increase the performance of streaming video. Also, you may want to consider expanding your RAM... 384 is relatively low considering Panther uses 128 mb of it. The less available RAM the OS has, it begins to use the hard disk for virtual memory, which can also lead to choppy video playback.
