damn, youre the ignorant here dude, as someone said befor, latino come from the word "latin", so in that way every race who comes from the latin language (spain, italy, portugal, and the resto center and south america) i mean, italians and spanish people are "latinos" too, they are just not "latino-americanos", capice?. The word latino is the short way to say "latino americano", so i think you are the one who havent been outside the us, and just for the record mexicans are not south americans, mexico is cosidered as a part of north america, and not to mention all center americans countries like guatemala, belice, etc....so i do agree with the one who said you should take a map and a history book.

Here's a term I haven't heard in 30 years: Ibero Americano that was what us Latinos used to be called by Spaniards. Anyone else remember this?

ok sorry but the truth on this is that any native spanish speaking person is latino (men) or latina (women) not only the ppl from puerto rico or dominican republic its all the spanish speakers and this name comes up because or language is so similar to the Latin language which was used many years ago and has sense gone on a fall.

Same thing. The term Latino/latina came up as a substitute for Hispanic, which has a clear reference to Spain (Hispanic Peninsula) that many Latinos don?t find representative of themselves.
