    Re: Tour de France 2007

i don?t know, the riders may have a hard decision to make, but at the end they are all human individuals with brains. it?s a fucking mirror of society where the career is worth more than credibility. but probably at this stage everything is already too emotionless.

Well, don't exagerate it: doping has been around for decades now. Remember Tommy Simpson who died on the Mont Ventoux in 1967? That was doping related...

and it doesnt stop ... Rasmussen out for lying about where he did his training . he said he was in Mexico when in fact he was in Italy. Lying about his location permited him to skip 2 doping tests

Yeah, he's been tossed out the Tour AND the Rabobank team. The other riders of Rabobank appeared at the start today though (there were rumours that the team would drop out of the Tour too)

our world has become so selfish instead of selfless... pretty sad.

I'm thinking of founding an MS team to ride the Tour next year. Who's joining me? No experience required: with the number of teams dropping out because of doping we'll win the race with our eyes closed

So the Tour is over: Contador won, Boonen won the green jersey. Let's hyope the 95th Tour next year will be all about the sport and zero about doping scandals. I've just about had it with that crap...

Yeah, just heard Dr. Werner Franke connects him to Fuentes and even names some products Contador has taken.

Iban Mayo (16th in the Tour) also tested positive. His team Saunier Duval announced it today and suspended him.

blaming/connecting armstrong to contadors allegations is plain stupid (and they are still allegations). do i think armstrong doped... hell yes... do i think he is an egomaniac... hell yes. but in no way do i think he took a bunch of bright eyed bushy tailed riders and shoved drugs into them so he could be in the lime light. they have been in the sport for years, and if any rider chose to do it, it was on their own accord.

cycling is full of doping, it always has been. unfortunately i feel that soo many riders are doping that it is an even playing field. i do feel terrible for the middle of the packers and the possibility of some top ten guys who are clean, so yes doping NEEDS to go... but this is not new people, they have been at it for years. my brother ran professionally for 10 years and got his ass beat by people on EPO, so it sucks, trust me i know... it needs to be cleaned up... in the same respect i feel for tyler/jan in that they are seen as evil, where i feel lance was doing the same shit and he has 7 tour wins... but yes, they made their own bed...

Werner Franke is a doping specialist and he claims he has documents found at Fuentes' stating what Contador has taken when. I don't see why Franke would lie about that.

And yes Willy Voet's book is a very interesting read. He was involved in the Festina scandal a few years ago. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willy_Voet

yes sorry, by mentioning armstrong it was more a personal reflex. For me he is a symbol of how relationships and influence stand above everything (negatively). I also know that these problems, although not affecting me in any way as i don?t do sports professionally, have been there forever and somehow media realizes that the image of an doping sportsman is really contra productive. That is at least my version..
finally all this is just frustrating for the "clean" people involved in that sport, spectators only expect the show.

about the Voet link to wikipedia: when reeading that arcticle i always have the slight impression that those persons always do as most as possible to generate a positive image.
on a sitenote: check floyd landis website, he just released a book as well which affirms his innocence.
