A Video of How I Spent my 4th of July

This video features me in the foreground within the blast radius of a bomb that we made out of 60 artillery shell fireworks duct-taped together. I still laugh every time I see the video because the explosion was immense. Also, it's not me screaming, but the dude who's filming it.

You can't have manslaughter without laughter.

"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl."

Haha actually a couple of the cops that were around the area wanted to come see the thing, but they had an actual incident to respond to, so they missed it. They were just as pumped about blowing that shit up as we were. Otherwise, we could've just paid them off to go away because my friend lives on a fucking golf course and could've afforded it.

I had no idea of the power of the coming explosion, which explains why I'm the only schmuck that's so close to it. We were just doing firecrackers up to that point, so it was a bit of a surprise getting a taste of Baghdad from 30 feet away.
