    First time listening to progressive

Just as subject says. What tracks/sets would you play to a person who never before listented to progressive, or any kind of trance/house musice for that matter?

And what do you consider the must-hear productions?

this is actually a really good post.

    kudos.

i have zero input tho, since prog puts me to sleep. (although i'll admit, Dave Semen's EM is pretty good for prog)

but i'd like to see some responses nonetheless.

    cheers

I always pop in Jimmy Van M's Bedrock CD1 for any newbie... I acutally gave a copy to a youth pastor on an airplane a few months ago. he was so excited about it that he actually told me that hre was going to play it for his entire youth group!

I tried to get two people into the whole genre with NE1 and it miserably failed! There's no accounting for taste.

I?m sure this has been a topic before.

NE1 has got to be the dogs for starting people off. Saying that i recently played all of the Luke Fair@Moonpark to a group of non belivers and they loved it!!

I wouldn't play anything from Sasha for first timers unless they were rolling their nuts off. I remember when I first heard Sasha I thought it was boring. I've played the Orb's "Orblivion" though, and people seem to like that.

Re: First time listening to progressive

i played "Sasha - Involver" for a few friends who were into other music, and they really enjoyed it due to Sasha's use of more "palatable sounds," i.e.--his use of guitar in the shpongle track, etc. They mentioned it was more musical, which I agree with, but also understand they usually don't like to set foot outside their 'comfort zones' and challenge themselves musically. This cd seemed to let them "ease-in" to the progressive pool.

Digweed Bedrock. POB's 'ba ba - humate remix' could do the trick...

Jenks thanks for approving my topic.

I notice that most of the stuff listed is rather chill.

I myself have played Airdrawn Dagger and GU Dipdish in Toronto(for it was the only audio cd with prog I had) to couple people - it got them interested. Perhaps, any track or set would do with the right presentation.

We need more youth groups like that! The salvation is in music(sepciffically prog). I would be down for going few times a week on daily basis.. if we'd listen to that.
