    GU24, Balance 005, or Holden's E-mix are the 1st 3 things 2 get some1 inline with my tastes

For something a little less up front I'd probably go from something like Involver.

Good Choice one of my favorite E-mixes ever. I also want to add John Digweed-MMII & Sasha:GU-San Francisco.

I would say the best prog to play for a newbie would be Hernan Cattaneo. The man plays great music and very appealing to the ear. If he/she doesn't like it, their a lost cause.

            Digweed's GU019 would be a good choice.

Re: First time listening to progressive

A friend of mine, who swore she hated all that noise i play, recently sat and listened to all three hours something of Nick Warren at the TLV from earlier this year. Since then she has progressed to Digweed's GU19, Holdens Balance 005 and Way Out Wests recent proton mix.

This weekend i thought i would move her on to Pappa and Lawler!

You should really start with S+D's Norther Exposure. (North)

i think the person needs to be open ... i have found that people who like movie opener music tend to like progressive and electronic. I remember my first time ... all i heard was untz untz untz ... i put my headphones on and listened to MobbDeep. Of course this was my year in France and dafttrax just came out with homework ... it was everywhere in France.

Re: First time listening to progressive

I have always had a difficult time getting my friends to enjoy prog house. I have had some luck with Digweed Sydney Disc 1. Most girls like a little Deep Dish. As soon as they say all the songs sound the same I turn it off b/c they will not listen and give it a chance.

Re: First time listening to progressive

what got me hooked was the Tranzworld 3 from Webster Hall. then Cream Anthems. both comps were given to me by my friend. Then i started to look around and found better stuff and started liking the prog.

                          oof Tranzworld. ugh. lol

play them Akufen, they wont "get it" but it will be funny to see the look on their face. you cant just cram it all at once, you have to ease it in like a gentleman

I think the key is 'accessibility'.

People are used to hearing 3/4 minute tracks with vocals, so a smooth progressive mix is not going to turn heads.

Maybe some recent Adam Freeland mixes? Strong guitar based influence that people can identify with.

You just can't chuck people in at the deep end.
