And for strength training look up some more adventurous positions in the karma sutra and you'll be fine.
    1. The only reason I ripped it from it's mooring was because it was attached to the ground with crappy screws not suitable for the strain on it.

    2. What's Hi-NRG? Really, I don't need aerobics when I spend 4 to 6hrs per week thaiboxing.

    3. It's kama sutra, karma is something that comes back to you when you've been a bad boy. Btw, that book is on my shelf for more than three years now

      2) DO NOT have a long warm soak in a hot bath. You'll get in alright but will probably need to scream for the neighbours to get you out.

      3) DO NOT stay in bed. Keep moving within your comfort zone.

      4) Use heat liberally. Whether it's a hot liniment, hot shower, hot water bottle, microwable heat-bag doesn't matter.

      5) Take an anti-inflammatory at night before you sleep to assist you in the mornings when you get up.

      6) See a physio. (or the Belgian equivalent thereoff) DO NOT see a chiro. You do not need to get your back cracked/manipulated at the moment. That blocked up feeling you describe is muscle spasm. See someone who does massage and other soft tissue techniques.

      GOOD LUCK
Wow thanks, some great tips there!

And don't worry, I don't even think of going to a chiro. An ostheopath is as far as I'm willing to go.

Are you a physio or something?

^^^ simple question, simple answer: I started with powertraining as support for boxing (together with running). But if you wear out your body for more than half an hour with high impact training like boxing, your body will go catabolic. This means that instead of burning carbs/fat to give energy to your muscles, your muscles will start to "feed" on their own mass and reduce muscle volume. Yup exactly that's the effect bodybuilders try to avoid with that stuff...

Not that I need volume for boxing, on the contrary: the weight only slows me down. But Erzina gets off on Vin Diesel types.... See how that works?

Oh and as for the creatine: it hydrates your muscles, giving you a strength/endurance increase of 10%. Pretty interesting when you're boxing...

                    Re: Gym rant

Definitely liable for an unsafe training environment, I bet that if you ask the manufacturer they will tell you ordinary screws aren't enough: this shit should be pinned to the ground with bolts, I'd say 6 to 8 mm at the least. I think you can without a problem sue him provided you can have someone (a lawyer) check it out and maybe take pics. If he hasn't obeyed to the installation instructions (and they'te bound to be there for equipment like that), I think you might have a chance.

About the fat percentage...I have never done that to be honest. Sounds like it might be a scam, just don't forget about dehydration from training and possible other external factors. Fisheye seems to be on point with what he says, and usually when I fuck up a back muscle the best thing to do is putting heat on it and just keep moving. That actually goes for any muscle, no sudden movements but no inactivity either -it makes the pain go away and keeps it 'flexible'. Doesn't necessarily help with the healing as such but alleviates better than painkillers.

I've done Amino acids to provide the building material muscles need, but have as yet refrained from creatine on a regular basis, tried it and did indeed find that you train much harder and longer. The problem with it is that you can use it for 6 weeks and then have to take a pause of about 2 weeks: your body makes it as well, so you end up adding to the natural levels which is usually harmful if done for too long: one effect is that your body itself will lower the production as a reaction, it will become 'lazy'. Same goes for testo and other hormones or stuff that is 'native production' of your own body. So use that stuff in moderation, always.

Oh, and I'm hoping to switch to Krav Maga soon...I want to do some real street fighting again. Will probably have kickboxing still there on the side tho .

                      .
Muscle is designed for 2 things only : load bearing and joint movement. After the initial acute stage of an injury ~24 hrs muscle needs to move to heal. In my experience this goes for any soft tissue injury that does not require surgery. All cellular changes in our body are chemical events. Put simply, muscle growth or healing is a chemical response to the mechanical stimulus of movement or exercise (whether that be weight lifting, martial arts or aerobics). Complete bed rest and ceasing all movement has now been thoroughly discredited as a treatment option for these types of injuries for many years. I tell my patients a little bit of pain is acceptable as long as you can maintain your range of normal movement. If it hurts too much stop what you're doing.

Why don't you just sue their asses for the hell of it (even if you don't need the money), that'll teach them, especially since the equipment landed on you.

Did the guy measure your bf with calipers or a machine? 'Cos the machine isn't accurate.

Home gym: Just get a well designed power rack that lets you do dips and chins as well, and a bench, and you're set.
