You can't have manslaughter without laughter.

"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl."

I grew up in Ohio. It really depends what city you are going to... Cincinnati has some clubs and gets some decent acts- same with Columbus and Cleveland. Outside of those three cities you are going to have a really hard time getting your fix locally.

Stay where your at. I have lived here all my life and for EDM this has to be the worst state to live in.

Re: I am moving to Ohio

that's not a good place to be, in Dayton for house music. They have little parties out there sometimes. Back when all the big bands used to really tour, they all used to stop in Dayton at a big arena, but that's all i know about dayton. And it's about an hour west of columbus.

There isn't much going on in columbus either, except a fairly decent tuesday night event. Those techno shows that B man speaks of haven't been making much of a dent on the scene here. They are free with fairly well know headliners and still not many people show up. I'm kinda wondering just how much the promoter really does of promoting.

Re: I am moving to Ohio

People love to criticize Cincinnati, especially those who live here, but it's not bad at all for a lot of things. However, when it comes to music, believe everything you've heard. It is very, very quiet here. Dayton's worse, but Columbus and Cleveland aren't that bad really. Nothing compared to the coasts, but still pretty lively. You just have to realize that once you're settled in, you're probably not gonna be heading to those cities on a regular basis, so you have to make do with what you have. Between finishing up my degree, preparing for a wedding, and a general sense of apathy, I haven't even sought out a good night since I got back from SF at the beginning of the year. Not to say they're not out there, I hope and believe they are. Good luck and enjoy your stay.

btw, the region between dayton and cincinnati along 75 is the epitome of everything i stand against. stay in the cities and the state's better than most would lead you to believe.
