Perry O?Neil - ?Needless/ It?s Time?
1) Needless
2) It?s Time
Release date: 13th of August (beatport excl. pre-release)
Label: Deep Records 041
Release Info:
Perry O?Neil is one of those producers that can suddenly shake things up, make you look up in surprise when playing his music. Personally I?ve always liked Perry?s sound but it just leaned too much towards the trancey side of the whole spectrum and therefore would mostly sway away from them. It had nothing to do with the productions, they always sound great and Perry certainly knows what he?s doing when producing. Just take one look at the dancefloor when any of his tracks is being played and one knows exactly what he?s doing. His extensive discography also speaks for itself with countless originals and remixes he?s already marked his stamp and in many ways doesn?t have to prove himself anymore. Maybe because of this it seems to me as for late that perry is exploring new ways in his sound and therefore has caught the attention of Deep Records.
Needless is just a perfect track, from start to finish. The fact that Perry drops his BPM from his usual tempo that lies around 128 to 130 BPM to a 125 makes a huge difference. Needless flows from start to finish with it?s staggering bas line and evolving sounds. For me it sounds like Perry is making a fresh new start and this way leaving more room to groove and let the sounds do their work. Needless is an essential track that will appeal to a very wide range of dj?s and I?m sure this tune will surprise many people in the months to come. Essential dance music really??
?It?s time? has a totally different feel then it?s big sister Needless. It certainly hasn?t got the same energy and hook as Needless but non of the less this is a interesting piece of music that could best be described as an solid dj tool without having a big main hook. It features many of Perry?s trademarks with it?s use of sounds and arrangement only again it sounds different because of the BPM. Listening to Perry?s latest stuff it?s become clear that more soul and groove have entered his music which does it for me and most likely a lot of other people!
DJ Support:
Flash Brothers: Its time is very cool big room tuff electric house tune. Different vibe from Perry!
Hernan Cattaneo: needless sound good!

Ron Levy: quality prog-houser here...funky enough to work earlier on...
