    Webcasting Censorship

Apparently AT&T has been censoring a number of the shows they've been showing online in their "Blue Room" for not only swearing, but political content as well.

I was watching Pearl Jam's performance at Lollapalooza a few weeks back and noticed that the sound cut-out when they started talking in between songs (as well as a few times during one track in particular). I thought it was just a technical problem and merely a coincidence, but apparently there was much more going on...fuckin CORPORATE CENSORSHIP!!!

Well, the Pearl Jam concert wasn't the only one, nor were the lollapalooza performances the only ones AT&T did this to, see:

and this is the same company that wants to start charging customers for tiered access to the internet and wants us to believe they won't be censoring anything from their customers...

There goes freedom of speech..........Little by little they are taking away our freedoms....So gradual, that no one takes notice, and those that do notice are so fed up with our corrupt ass govmnt, they believe that their voice doesn't count...America, fuck yeah!!!!! NOT!!!!!

I'm surprised ... don't you guys have the first amendment and all that stuff to prevent shit like this from happening?

Of course I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was Singapore.

I got pics and video. But I will upload them in the morning. I need to smoke this nice phat joint and just close my eyes and replay the amazingness in my head.

Uh..... I could be completely wrong on this...but how does freedom of speech apply to a private business? Anyone?

Besides, there is a more serious reason to b!tch and moan about AT&T right now....

My point was exactly that the firstamendment doesn't apply to private business, but they're fighting the gov't's propaganda war for them. Corporate censorship, corporate legislation, corporate spying, corporate data mining, corporate military and so on and so forth.

There goes the democracy...now America moves on to the new Corporocracy! May the biggest contributor win.

^^While I'm no expert on the matter either, but....Where does the first amendment specify that it doesn't apply to private business?? This is all that I got from it -->> "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

If you replace "congress" with "private entities, persons, or other non-government groups, associations, etc..." then you'd have a point.

well, private business' can be boycotted against. But most people wouldn't believe that at&t is doing this very kind of censorship.
