not only probably the best drummer of the bebop/bop jazz era, but one of the best all-time jazz drummers PERIOD.
This guy could layer shit regardless of the tempo and make it sound ridiculous...always enjoyed hearing him on many a recording.

Absolute legend - there from the start of be-bop with Bird, Dizzy and Miles and then helped introduce modern jazz via his records with Rollins. Always kept evolving - a really sad loss and a true true legend. Art Davis, once 'Tranes bass player died (relatively unnoticed) the previous week. But the music lives on.sigpicSimonR
