You've always gotta be wary of a sequel to a classic film as they usually don't deliver, but in the case the original GITS is nothing in comparison to the world this one creates. Gorgeous - really amazing stuff!!! If you liked the first one this one will blow your mind watch closely though - very philosophical =)
I second Jaytech. If you have ever liked animation movies you will NOT be disappointed with the SHEER BEAUTY of this film. I just saw it last night and am still reeling not only from the storyline but from the breathtaking cinematography. I had to go back and watch the first one again and it truly made for a powerful, thoughtful evening.
So for those who dig action adventure or crime drama and can handle science fiction I insist that this will be the best picture you will see for a LONG TIME.
I still watch the first one ... it puts my wife to sleep. lol. It's a great movie ... I really hope they do not fuck it up ... it would a super addition to my dvd collection.
Limited release. I googled it and found a theatre listing somewhere. I will most definitely purchase this on dvd when it comes out, and probably the soundtrack too.
The original GITS is probably one of the most thoughtful animated movies of all times . Imo all the intricaccies of the original plot could be taken a step forward without diluting the philosophical message and I'm glad that a sequel has been made. Pity that I have to wait for a dvd release (or some dodgy bootleg ) as I'm 100% sure they won't be screen it in my country
i just saw it a few days ago. good visuals. really heavy handed with the philosphical mumbo jumbo. definately good things to think about. but when
the whole movie is filled with the stuff, it gets real boring real fast.
