    Sluggish Core 2 Duo system.

A few months back you may remember I built my new kick ass setup: Core 2 Duo E6420, Asus P5W DH Deluxe, 2GB 1066mhz DDR2 RAM, GeForce 8800GTS, and XP is on a RAID 0 setup.
However, the system seems to be sluggish and not as responsive as I'd hoped. To be honest, it doesn't seem to be as smooth as when I had my Pentium 4 setup. I'm wondering is it due to be me installing XP using an Intel Celeron chip and then adding the Core 2 later, as I was waiting for new ones to be released.

I don't really want to go through the whole re-installing process if thats not the problem.

yea I need to do mine again as well...never did it when I transferred hard drives over to the new system (still got a lot of the old system settings)...couple of little bugs getting aggrivating now and I bet system performance will be boosted a bit when I re-install...

^ ^ It's mainly the users though. I haven't run into the issues that many of these kids have. I wouldn't say I'm lucky either. I just know the difference between my left and my right foot. Phew.

Yeah, can't say I normally run into problems with Windows. My systems are normally rock solid, stable and secure. (Except one I made back about 6 years ago... but that had a poor chipset and ran Windows ME (for all of 1 week before I threw the CD away).
Don't fancy a re-install as I'm running the OEM version... which will probably mean I have to phone Microsoft in some indian call centre somewhere to activate it and try and make out what they are saying. Last time the line was so quiet it took forever.

^ ^ That fix isn't necessary for most equipment. If your board has the correct BIOS (which it should if it was manufactured after 2003) then you'll be fine. It's been discussed in many forums. And SP3 has already been released. Just look around and you'll find it.

Hmmm. Just put in another harddisk, set it to be the master boot drive and installed Vista on to it.
Whole thing is running very nicely indeed. Tho I'm not much of a fan of Vista at the moment. Plus it'll expire in 30days... bah!
