Two things:

1. I never said that I like his policy...I was just explaining it. I agree with you that it's extremely unfair to those who just never have the chance to see him live

2. It's one thing to record him live from the floor like a concert bootleg. It's an entirely different thing to record him straight off the soundboard, which most if not all bands will never allow (unless they plan on releasing it, ie. Pearl Jam).

i beg to differ, about half the bootlegs i run across are soundboards, i.e. the rush in tampa florida post in my non edm thread, was a soundboard recording.

problem with this is, you would need your soundguy with you at every stop, i happen to know a ton of soundguys, and they all record.


i could understand it if, dannys set was nothing but unreleased stuff, that no one wanted anyone to hear(but then why play it out?)

the fastest way i know of to get an unreleased track hype, is to give it to a well known dj(danny t) have them play it out, it gets recorded in the live set, soon the liveset recording makes it all over the world, and everyone is asking, what is this track.

danny plays to mabye 10% of the edm fans in the world, why cant the other 90% hear that track as well?

we gotta pay 25 bucks to hear his sets each and every time?

it's greed, plain and simple.

he figures if there are no livesets, then you either gotta buy his 20 gu cd(or whatever new mix cd he has) or you have to shell out 20-25 bucks to go see him play.

again, let me state, he does not come around here, and if he did, he is not worth the money, the set we are talking about contains a couple trainwrecks, hardly a super-super dj, like say sasha or hawtin.

he is know for trainwrecking, hardly the label of a pro, again, my advice to danny is stay in n.y., they are cool paying high prices for underpreformers to whine about how they aint getting no money off someone recording a live set.

or better yet, get a job with the riaa.

well, i'm listening to the mix in question right now, and while track selection is good, the mixing seems to need improvment.

He has to be the most stoppy tempramental DJ ive ever read about. Not had the pleasure/displeasure of seeing him live, but hes an ok dj, not the god he makes out to be [from what ive heard]

ok i have one thing to say, danny tenaglia is a legend. hes been spinning for 30 plus years. hes better then 99% of the djs u guys post on this messageboard.most of the "big name" djs on this board will be long forgotten in a few years. whether he train wrecks or not, spinning house or techno, u need to see him live and experience one of his marathon sets first hand to know what that man is all about. u wouldnt be talking shit, plain and simple. if he doenst want his sets recorded, its his call. respect the man and his job. if he doesnt want to hoar himself or his music and keep it old school and have it remain in the clubs - ITS HIS CALL

we need more djs like tenaglia around imo....someone who is true to his art, true the music he plays and the artists on the records, and the memories he makes with his fans in all the clubs he plays at world wide

lmao @ crying and i skipped the set in the first place anyway

1: i dont like him and probibly never will, just not my taste

2: stopping a dj set in a nightclub of paying costomers just because one of them is seen talking into a cell phone on the dancefloor = rockstar bullshit, at the end of the day those people are paying his wages, this guy need to get a fuckin grip and deal with the changes that todays market caters for n stop acting like a spoilt brat

so what if he's a top dj? this doesnt give him the right to fuck up everyones night just because he feals they should be doing what he demands of his crowd, ok i agree with the who recording of his sets argument but @ the end of the day it was his fault for not doing the nessesary checks to stop it

and anyway why isnt he taking legal action against the people who ran the event
