i always say its like house music with a twist...
i tell ppl its similar to trance but, its more in depth,
not as predicable or boring, the sounds are layered ,melodic

To people who have no idea that there are different genres of electronic music and go around labeling everything as "Techno" there is no way to describe it. You could sit there for days explaining how each different style is layered, describing bass lines and melodies, and mentioning different artists but they have to have a comprehension of the basics in order to understand.
