The only way I could learn Dutch is if I knew someone who spoke it well. Then to hang out with them very much. So Kinky. I'll be on my way to hang with you and Yao and learn Dutch, then I'm off to Germany to learn Deutsch.

            Re: Should humor have limitations?

There might be things that are really beyond joking about, but sometimes, laughing at wholly inappropriate material can be therapeutic. I remember once I was working on a case that involved the murder and rape, in that order, of a 14 year old girl. We received the autopsy photos, and without going into enormous detail, they haunt me to this day.

There was a time when it was actually worse, though. We knew they would be put before the jury and were knew we had to get used to them and find a way to deal with them. Without hitting on the specifics, by the time we were done, we were roaring with laughter. Not that there was anything even remotely funny about what we were saying -- I suspect it was just such a decidedly unfunny situation that anything to break the ridiculous tension in the room was welcome. Gotta do what you gotta do to get to where you can deal with that shit and do your job.

Lest there be any confusion, I do not believe there is anything funny about the killing and rape of anyone. Sometimes, though, the real purpose of the joke is not to be funny but to cope.

as a mexican i dont think racial jokes are funny, perhaps you think they are because youre rarely the main point on a joke, it is not that i felt disciminated because i havent, in fact i cant even feel myself related with all illegal people migrating to the US, the problem here is that this jokes tend to generalize all mexican as we all were illegal/ignorant/beaner delincuents and thats realy unfair, i know racism is unfair as it is, but i what i want to highlight here is the generalizing thing (ask beansancheez, he usually makes this kind of jokes)

Should their be limitations on ignorant behavior.
                      It would be nice.
If there was not an audience for over the top
kind of comics, those people would being doing
something else. Do we really need millions of people
putting videos of themselves on You Tube just to link
it to their friends for the Mon. morning water cooler talk.
                      No
But people do it anyway and it serves a function
of self reflection just as the over the top comics do.
Saying or doing something most people would be uncomfortable
doing in public, say like the Amazing Racist, people think
his shows are funny, are they offensive sure, but the context
taken is in personal reaction to the show.
Or we could just ban all comedy except Seinfeld and That 70's Show, now wouldn't that make for a better world.

So white-middle class Americans have been told by their Television sets to be fearful of:

                      1. Mexicans/Latinos from the South bringing drugs and killings n' shit.
                      2. African Americans cause mos def they are raging a race war and want to occupy America like how the plebs occupied Wall St.
                      3. Iranians/Afghans/Any one of middle eastern origin to be quite frank, cause you know Islam...
                      4. North Koreans/Chinese cause you know everything...

                      Am I close here?
