    Influence - I could see influence be effective being negative. If we don't do what the boss or dictator tells us or wants us to do, there could be negative consequences.

    Charisma - I see as admirable qualities even if they shouldn't be. Charisma can lead to influence too. For example, hip hop music has influenced language, clothes and culture. The rappers have charismatic traits that people want to emulate.

      Charismatic people will always be influential but influential people are not always charismatic imho.

        Can you be charismatic and influential? Yep

        Can you be charismatic and not influential? Nope

        Can you be influential and not charismatic? Absolutely.

        Maybe that will explain the difference a bit, (or just confuse the crap out of everyone...)
