    AMD unveils Barcelona

Sunnyvale (CA) ? AMD today announced what the company calls the "most advanced x86 processor) as well as the first "native quad-core processor". Code-named Barcelona, the quad-core Opteron will be shipping in server systems this month. The core technology of the new CPU will also surface in AMD's Phenom processor for desktop systems in December.

    Can't wait for Phenom

Same here. I read a few articles on the details of these last week. The prices look good too. I'll probably do another build at the end of the year just for the hell of it.

      right,
please do remember to put some impressions here.
I hope for the sake of AMD that this thing goes as they say it goes.
I take Viagra and Prozac together. If I can't get it up, I don't care.

        this processor's architecture looks great
with the L3 cache shared by all cores, and L2 for each core, seems pretty better than those core2quad by intel.

not sure if the amd runs faster, but the architecture is much better

Yeah. I know the speeds are rated much lower but I do like the way that architecture is set up. Bringing the L3 cache back is old school.
