Re: Current hardware will not support DirectX10.1
Ridiculous...Just got World in Conflict and I was going to get a 8800 graphics card upgrade from my previous 7900, but after reading that article I might wait a few months to upgrade to a new graphics card to be able to run DX10 and as far as I can tell in WIC the only thing DX10 does for the game is make smoke more realistic...according to all the forums. -
Re: Current hardware will not support DirectX10.1
world in conflict is a monster in terms of hardware requirement ... im running it on xp with a 8800gtx 768mb card and it still drops drastically in fps when the fighting gets really intenseI broke my spoon on the viagra sundae.Comment

DX10 = one of those new releases that will be a bitch to support off the bat (unlike "upgrades")FM

Re: Current hardware will not support DirectX10.1
i bought a 8800gts 320mb and using it with windows xp.
don't plan to switch to vista yet, just bought the card because it's great and had plans to upgrade my old ati x1300 for a decent card.
it sucks they won't support dx10.1 though i'm not sure when are going to be games dx10.1 exclusive
they will miss a big share of market if they throw games for dx10.x only.http://www.myspace.com/hernancattaneo

I'm going to try to get a clan together for weekend play. Let me know if you are interested are if anyone else on Mercury is interested... as nerdy as it may sound. I have become addicted to this game.Comment

Re: Current hardware will not support DirectX10.1
From technical documents Microsoft has previously made available, DX 10.1 is nothing but a point release containing nothing new; only added code libraries to round out their existing DX10 offerings -- aka minor patches and bug fixes.
It is probably less newsworthy than the DX5-DX6 upgrades back in the day (when they'd upgrade the number cuz it looked like they did work... when, in fact, they did diddly squat).Comment

Re: Current hardware will not support DirectX10.1
Yeah, from what I have seen 10.1 isn't really much of anything...much less a reason to go out and buy another $500 video card.Comment
