I've heard Sasha in the old days at Twilo and that was probably the hardest I've ever heard him play. It was fantastic, especially from the VIP section Anyone know his first track with the tubular bells?

I don't think Deetron life soundtrack was Sasha's first track unless he's mixing over it. This guy from YouTube has the same thoughts as me:

"does anyone know the name of the opening song he spun.. it was like the lil xylaphone sounding beat for a long time but AMAZING...."

                  Sasha's First Track

I found Sasha's first track. Now, who's got the trainspot? I admit, the vocal in the background does sound like Deetron.

                      My Review

Sasha @ Bill Graham Civic Auditorium [September 29][San Francisco, CA]

It had been awhile since I had seen Sasha. It's partly because we're all older now and clubbing is no longer a forethought but usually more of a painful recovery - even when I can't party half the way I used to in New York. However, things seemed to go my way and somehow I ended up getting the VIP treatment last Saturday for the Lovefest afterparty in San Francisco. Fortunately, I had a wingman from the Twilo days tagging along with me so we were equally excited for the rare opportunity to light up the dancefloor with Sasha, yet one more time.

I was expecting a semi-rave when I heard Lovefest was being held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium but nothing prepared me for the masses of people that showed up to party it up. Not only were there literally thousands of bodies on the main floor of the auditorium rotating those age-old club toys called glowsticks but there hundreds of costumed Lovefest partiers perambulating around the various areas that were set up. They were donned in bikinis, makeup, hats and even Easter Bunny outfits. Yes, Easter Bunny outfits. San Francisco was obviously up for it and it was a rave.

Sasha hit the decks, err sorry, I mean iMac and Ableton live around 1am. Being as jaded as I am with the clubbing scene yet devotional to the music and to my days on West 27th, I was skeptical that Sasha would impress me but from the start he did just that. Opening with the tubular bells that sounded like round two of Schiller's "Das Glockenspiel", Sasha introduced us to the Glock-a-Pella mix of Supermayer's "Two of Us" along with the vocals of the original mix layered underneath. It was a surprising opening but by the time that the bells had dissipated the crowd was absolutely nuts. From there the night simply seemed to elevated itself. Tipping his hat to the origins of Germany's Lovefest, Sasha employed the likes of techno giant Umek and his "Carbon Occasions" and kept the energy on throughout his set, which wasn't the five hours of days gone by but a mere two. That, however, suited me just fine. The night, before I knew it, was over and it was time for me to catch up on what seems like the more apt devotion, sleep.
