Alex Parsons: 'Nineties Dayshade / Sixties Nightshade'
UTD17
General Release: 22nd October 2007
Exclusive to beatport now.
Listen here:
A concert musician with letters after his name, Alex parsons, is more than your average bedroom producer. On his first release for Urbantorque he displays all his musical nous in creating two tracks that dominate a mood and determine the tone. ‘Nineties Dayshade’ and ‘Sixties Nightshade’ are fierce yet intelligent, potent pieces of music. Ignore at your peril.
‘Nineties Dayshade’- Magnificently sparse, masterfully restrained minimal tech house. Cleverly layered for intensity, but lifted throughout by a gentle groove.
‘Sixties Nightshade’ – More big-room, this goes for the jugular. Moody, belligerent, and with some unashamed hands in the air moments for the kids!
Twenty-four year old Londoner, Alex parsons, injects house music with his musical knowledge and classical experience. A concert musician with a Masters degree in Music, Alex has become an integral part of the Brique Rouge roster with productions and remixes under his own name and as Agent Toga with Trent Anthony. He’s recently been propped by a whole host of house and techno legends including Laurent Garnier, Satoshi Tomiie, Josh Wink, Tiga, Phonique, Ralph Lawson and David Duriez. ‘Nineties Dayshade / Sixties Nightshade,’ Alex’s debut release on Urbantorque, shows his versatility and creativity as a producer, and suggests there’s much more to come from this young artisan.
