Hey guy's/gals i am just gonna start ripping all my mp3's onto cd's tonight. My question is this, how many tracks do u guys have per disk 4-10? If so how do you label them? I mean do u right down all the tracks onto the cd itself or do a seperate sheet with a list of tracks? Also i was thinking of burning 1 track per cd but i thought that might be a waste of space. And one last thing should i burn them as mp3's or wav files?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Burning Cd's
Depends on your burner, I use Nero and have found that sometimes the last 2 or 3 tracks don't come out so well or skip same when i convert them to wva, could be my crappy computer geez i wasn't really any help was i.

Re: Burning Cd's
I use Nero too and have been putting 9 tracks onto a cd. But I burn the disc at 4X speed so the errors are a lot less. Then I just take and type it all out into Word, then get the BPM for the songs and print it all out. I always like to have the BPM of a song written out to help make my mixing more effecient.Comment

Re: Burning Cd's
I usually burn about 8-10 tracks per CD and burn 2 copies of every CD so that I can mix 2 different tracks that are on the same CD. I have just started to label my CDs CD1, CD2, CD3, etc.
Then I have added all of the information for the tracks to an excell file so that I can quickly find the CD track listing for a particular CD or find which CD a particular track is on.
Also, I usually burn them around 6x to 8x to make sure there are no errors, and CD burners must convert your files from mp3s to WAVs anyways so you might as well burn with WAVs if they're available.Comment

Re: Burning Cd's
yeah i've kinda begun numbering my cd's too. But I mostly just put the date I burnt the cd on it. That way I can usually tell how old the tracks are. Especially since I love playing some older tracks.Comment

Re: Burning Cd's
I burn a pretty good amount of mp3's onto my cd's.. I type out the tracklisting on txt, print and slip it in.
I also burn 2 of each to mix together if need be.
I dont label the bpm, I just classify them into the same genre or "style".. this way most tracks in each folder should have similar bpm's I have the mkII's so Im able to create folders.
every now and then, when I have a couple of mp3's that I must download right away and not have enough to create folders etc.. I just burn and write the tracks down w/ blk sharpie.
hope this helps ya out.. It can get very confusing and very disorganizedComment

Re: Burning Cd's
everyone has their own little system that to others looks like Greek...but they can find tracks on very little notice
1 or 2 tracks on a CD or 2 is fine...usually do it on a particular single, or heck if someone gives you some stuff to play. Every CD forget it...you'll run out of room fast
Sometimes it's a mixture of typed sheets & CDR writes...others just write on the CD itself. I've seen more and more go the typed sheet route though (some with BPM's, some no); just helps to organize things better...how you sort and type them is your preference.FM

Re: Burning Cd's
I always burn just one release per cd. If I only like one track or remix of a release then it's just one track on the cd.
I keep my cds in alphabetical order in my 208 cd case logic wallet. Which of course means that once something goes out of it and something new comes I have to sort them all again.Forward thinking house musicComment

Re: Burning Cd's
^ Yeah, I initially thought of doing it that way, but I just couldn't waste a cd with 1 track... I just couldnt.
It works out well.. there are only a couple of times where it DOES take me a frew seconds longer than usual looking for a particular track in all that madness... and if your recording; it could mean trouble!Comment
