......and certain things you say may inspire others to think and say whatever the bleep they want back to you
That said, if I were a woman and somehow still otherwise possessed my same sense of self as I do now as a man (which I certainly doubt could be possible), then no I don't think I would do it.mixes: www.waxdj.com/miroslavComment

Re: would you girls do this ?
So, the woman says she has fertilization issue, so invetro is probably her only choice of getting pregnant, especially at age 42. Why not use her husbands sperm? A man she knows the history of, tempermant, looks, medical history of...rather than a stranger from the sperm bank on who she will only know a partial history of?
There may be psychological issues of her "filling the void" in her life by having this child, but there are far worse excuses for getting pregnant that happen way to frequently in this world. It's never too late to become the person you always thought you would be.Comment

The article doesn't say how long they were married. But losing your "soul mate", the person your suppose to spend the rest of your life with until old age must be a very difficult thing.Comment

Re: would you girls do this ?
i think her decision is justified. she wanted to have a child and she did it. i can totally understand loving someone so much that you want to have a child with this individual, if this individual is deceased it obviously creates quite the dilemma. it was planned and executed nicely. i personally don't believe that there is anything wrong with telling the kid that the father died in a war to protect his freedom and he was born to carry on his bloodline. i would be honored. (if i were the kid)
i can think of a lot stranger circumstances for a child to be born under. hats off to the mom, she now has the child she wanted with the person that she loved and technology has given her the ability to do so.Comment

Re: would you girls do this ?
I bet if this was about a misguided 17 year old girl whose boyfriend left her to drop out of school and fend for herself after she got knocked up, no one would comment about anything sick/creepy/wrong with that whole situation.
But a grown 42 year old woman whose husband just died...whoa, this has gone too far!mixes: www.waxdj.com/miroslavComment

Re: would you girls do this ?
I think some of the comments made in this thread are completely inappropriate...calling her trailer trash? What grounds are you making this call on?
She is not the first woman that has done this...I remember a few years back there was something similar in the news after 9/11. I don't see anything wrong with it. She is has the child of the person she loved, and how is that wrong?
I am guessing if she has his sperm in the first place they had to have agreed to it at some point....I am guessing they did it when they found out she had fertility issues (which they mention about her in the article).sigpic

Re: would you girls do this ?
Oh and to answer the initial question...I don't know if I would do it or not...at this point in my life I wouldn't as I don't really want kids, nor can I afford to support a child right now....down the road though, who knowssigpic

Re: would you girls do this ?
eeek. that's a phrase I refuse to use!
But in terms of content, s*l*d tossing is certainly in my repetoire. There aren't many activities that aren't. In fact I can't think of any that aren't.
But like all barriers, you don't know you have them until you cross them.
.......
And just for clarification purposes, I don't have a right or wrong stance on this. She's a grown woman & she should do as she pleases, and if her dead squadie pemits the use of his spurems when he dies, then that's between them both. I just think it's rediculous she feels it necessary when there's a whole other avenue of things she could explore and develop.Issuing colonics by request.Comment

Re: would you girls do this ?
I come to this from a slightly different angle. This thing that I find wrong is actually planning to have a child with only one parent. This thing about women having the right to have children regardless gets up my nose. What about the childrens rights.?? I can speak with authority, I'm a single parent, allthough I didn't plan it!! Bringing up a child on your own is very, very hard, regardless of friends and relatives support ultimately you are the only one totally responsible for that child 24/7 !!
So look at this situation, 42 year old woman hanging on to her dead husbands memory. You have to question her motives for having this child. I don't believe a child should be seen as a part of anyone else.!! She's going to be 63 at his 21st!!
Every child should have a right to the best possible start in life and that means at least starting with two loving parents. Actually planning for less than that is totally unfair to the child!!
Obviously there are lots of single parent families out there doing a great job bringing up wonderful children .But it is not what we should be aiming for.
So, no. I definitely would not do it!!
btw I don't find it particulary creepy.Originally posted by TheVrkit IS incredible isn't it??
