^^ i can think and say whatever the bleep i want, its just what i think , you can like it or not, you can concur or not with what i think .
my question is would you do it ?
what makes her trailer trash? they use technology to their advantage. whether or not the husband conceded the after-death use of his sperm, he had to have had a fairly decent understanding that that's what was going to happen if he did die overseas. imo, i would want my blood to be carried on if i died in a senseless war.
What is it with people who are so desperately attached to someone they have to cling on to an extention of themselves or a loved one to the lengths of freezing their sperm. I could understand it more if it were about having kick-ass genes or something but this is just about emotional dependency on another person.
Are these people really this emotionally crippled?

I'm totally with jib on this, just cant figure out some of the responses going trailer trash.... and how ?
If she and her husband loved each other so much that even after he died, she chose to have a part of him recreated with the help of technology, how the heck is that demeaning or in poor judgment ?
I say more power to her if she had the amount of love she has for her late husband to do what she has done and the courage to actually pull it off.
I totally agree!
But I cannot say what I would do because untill you find yourself in a situation like this you CANNOT know what you'd do imo!

Music is essential for the expression of non material ideals and energies. Music colors our surroundings with emanations from the highest vibrational fields. It allows us to escape all limitations in our thinking and very existence.
No. I'm neither arrogant, narcistic or bored enough to want to conceive a child for any reason, let alone for reasons of preserving the memory of someone I was/am close to.

Obviously you haven't been in love to the extent these women are. There's probably a darn good reason only 2 women (if I read that article right) have done it. Of course the others probably weren't as crazy about their better halves.
There's nothing wrong with being desperately attached to someone, thats why you have intesne emotions for one person and not the entire world.
Some people control it and dont let those emotional chemicals flow as freely through themselves, others do. I completely fail to see how they are "emotionally dependent" on their dead husbands

^^Exactly Kamal! Kind of why I asked him/her how old they where. Anyways, fuck this, I'm gonna go out and get someone pregnant, it's Friday!!!!!!!!!!!11

obviously?
I guess you "obviously" have me all sewn up then, let's not even entertain the idea that there might be perspectives here that you might not have thought about, because it's simply about the limits of my love experience.
ok.

Well, I wouldn't use the word "wrong" here either. Wrong implies some sort of moral standpoint on the matter, which I don't have.
However I would describe being "desperately" attached as limited, and being pretty dependant on someone else to satisfy your needs, as opposed to being self-aware and being capable of satisfying your own needs through your own understanding of yourself.
I know I prefer to be with someone because I want to be with them and because I desire to be with them rather than because I "need" to be with them. A fully developed, emotionally intelligent person doesn't "need" to be with someone, simply because their emotional needs are already managed by themselves.

Or, alternatively perhaps some people may just have spent lots of time analysing their emotions and behaviour to the point where they are now able to rationalise and understand themselves and are less emotionally needy. So when they let their emotions flow free they don't appear as unstable [or passionate] or erratic [or intense] as someone who doesn't understand themselves to the same level?
I can't view being In Love as being "desperately attached", because if I was with someone because I was desperately in need of them, I'd obviously be expecting them to pacify those needs for me. That's not only selfish, but also often unfair on the other person. I don't wish to inflict my failings onto a person I really adore, because .. well, I like 'em, and they deserve better
I certainly don't equate "desperately attached" with a healthy relationship.
Whereas totally adoring someone, that's something else. And that's pretty awesome, so I'll stick with that.
But that's obviously because I'm like 16 or something and nothing to do with years of experience and contemplation.
