Some forums I've visited have a text box down the bottom of a forum page which allows you to enter in term to search for and just click 'Go'
This is hardly a critical issue but I find it a very useful tool if you know the forum that you want to look for something.
While you are looking for what you are trying to find you can just scroll down and search instead of going to the search page, selecting your forum, any options and clicking search
Not sure how these things get implimented so I don't know if its just an option you select or it needs to be programmed in, but its just a suggestion.
MS is by far the most functional forum I visit so it kinda seems rude to ask for more, but see what you think
