35 miles per gallon by 2020

    http://www.geenstijl.nl/mt/archieven....html#comments (for kinky)

Seriously, seri-ous-ly! How fucking retarded can things get? Even a 16-yr old Volkswagon Golf can do that, any new car these days, even a big fat gas-guzzling Audi Q7 can do that if you pay attention to your driving style. But in the US of A it's still impossible?

Heysoos christ, get off that other planet and start buying European/Asian cars. Wake the fuck up. You don't need a V8 to pump out a few hunderd BHP, you deffo don't need such an engine in city traffic anyways and you're still wondering why America needs more oil than any other country in world except China?

sorry, just had to rant. I just think that this is a ridiculous initiative since it's already there, and testifies of an unwillingness to take advantage of what's right in front of your nose for no other reason than that they want to keep that V8 engine alive, which must be one of the most uneconomical engines around at this point.

well, part of the problem is that we just need our huge-ass dump truck sized SUVs over here in the states (if you disagree, you must hate freedom).

big engines and big cars really annoy me!

most of the time there is only 1 person in them and then just drink fuel.

time to wake and start being a little bit less image conscious.

do u really need that 3.2 V6 to get to work and back???

yes! our country is much bigger than all of your little countries put together, therefore we need big cars.

make a truck with a good payload that gets 35mpg and i'll buy one, until then, it's not my problem. blame the manufacturer no the end user.

nobody is wondering dude... everyone knows why we need more oil than most countries. in fact i'm willing to bet you consume a lot of exports from america that used oil to manufacture.

btw, I own 2 japanese cars, neither one of them gets over 30mpg, in fact, my truck gets 17mpg. I get your frustration with oil consumption but you're making some pretty ridiculous statements in that rant Yaozer.

I get totally sick of seeing some people (male or female) driving huge SUVs to take their kids to school / get the weekly shopping / go to work and back. Most of them can't handle the physical size of the vehicle, they are a complete waste fuel, they are purely status symbols (as they are never taken off road like they're designed to be), and they are dangerous. Hit a pedestrian or a cyclist with one of those mothers there's going to be someone dead.

The clue is in the name - "Sports Utility Vehicle", not daily runaround.

My Truck gets about 18 MPG and it is a chevy avalanche. I have to keep my foot off the gas but I get it there. Most cars don't even seem to get this around here.

I don't have it for status - I could careless who sees me in it. I have it because I like to sit up high so I can throw baby kittens further out the window and hit people in smaller cars as I point and laugh at them!!

Actually I did get it because I wanted to sit up higher. When I drive my girls BMW I can't see a damn thing ahead of me because I sit to low to the ground and it drives me crazy! I also have it because of the snow that we get here... I know we don't get as much as you east coast people and mountain areas but we do get some good amounts here. I have also used it to take family trips to Kentucky (land between the lakes) and similar vacations because I can fit 5 people in it and get off the main roads to see better views and sneak up on Eagles.

We do car pool to work though and most of the time take her car due to gas prices.

There is my 2 cents - I bet you are glad you read this... lol

Maybe it was a typo and they meant 350mpg.
