Congrats!!! That's fantasic. My dad quit over 4 years ago and while I was visiting him in Mexico a week and a half ago, he would come outside with me while I had a smoke because he still loves the smell of cigarettes. Don't know if the craving ever goes away. Guess I'll find out when I quit.

I quit smoking 7 years ago. I still get cravings while I drink. This past summer I went to Europe and smoked the 21 days I was there. I've not smoked since. Good luck!

good for you Gatz. Been smoking strong for some time, I see myself dyeing with a cigarette in my hand. Bummer.

Quit in june when the smoking ban in bars came here. Still get the craving but I've found that taking a drag cures that as it now tastes like shit.

i used to smoke cigs then quit. started smokin cigars once a week. a few months later, i began to do some light runs to stay in shape. since then ive got more serious about runs & maybe smoke a cigar once every six months. just wasnt worth for my next 2 training sessions to get bogged down by smokin.

quit a year and a half ago and I'll be damned if I could go without one when I drink...so I give in when drinking, but no more than 1 or 2 and then I don't have any for a few weeks...til the next time I drink and give into it.

Do what everyone else does when they quit and eat to your hearts content.

Then go cold turkey on food in 10 years when your Doc tells you you're overweight and have high cholesterol.

I quit 6 months ago too and the craving is still there, especially on weekends when I'm out drinking. I don't get it when I'm at work or home, so it's just the environment. I just spent 8 days in Hong Kong and smoked pretty much every night because we were out drinking every night, was developing a sore throat midway into the holiday and had to hold back. The mouth and tongue also felt like shit the next day Haven't touched a stick the whole week I've been back, and haven't felt the urge yet ... Friday will be the test

First of all good on you all of you who have given up or are trying to. I was an incredibly heavy smoker and tried everything to give !! I had resigned myself to being a smoker for life and a friend dragged me along to a smokenders meeting. I joined up and it worked !! I haven't smoked in years and don't have the craving either!! They teach you how stupid a habit it is and give you structured information on ways to overcome it,
I don't know if they are anywhere else in the world , if they are sign up asap!! If they aren't, this book apparently has a lot of the information and tips that they use. Quite a few people I know have highly recommended it. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Allen-Carrs-.../dp/0140277633

Good Luck.!!! It was the best thing I ever did. !!

Btw The only negative for me is that for a little while I used to dream I had been smoking and used to wake up in the morning feeling guilty

You will never fully get over the cravings while drinking. You will fully get over the cravings however while sober. I was a pack-a-day smoker for several years and eventually you just view it differently, but it takes a long time. Speaking of smoking, Marlboro just sold their office located in Downtown Manhattan for $600million, the must be loosing profit share in some area.

It was fun while it lasted...
