A UK website is so upset with Pete Tong's vocal indents on the Essential Mix that they are in the process of re-editing them with his dulcet tones removed.


The pedantic people behind www.tongless.com make the following analogy to explain their arguably irrational phobia.


'Just imagine you are walking through the Louvre and you want to watch the countless artworks which grace the walls. And then imagine that the museum director has put some his little signs with text about the painting (and some text which is completely off-topic) on top of it, covering part of the precious paintings.

Probably would be best, Tongy is on on bit annoying, imagine even more so now, haven't listen to him on Radio 1 in on on long time. Maybe they could get the Velveeta filter and get rid of all the cheddar he plays on his show as well.

i would kill for digweed's recent emix without any voiceovers or radio one blurbs. hell, while we're at it, how 'bout a copy recorded straight from the mixer...

Tong is not THAT annoying.. he only talks about once every 30 minutes, which is pretty good out of every other radio show that plays mixes. Metrodance, 102fm, to name a few are pretty bad. I, for one do not mind it at all...

Although, when they do live shows, he tends to talk a lot more. Specifically, digweed's emix from Ibiza, he talked for 5 minutes with Carl Cox during, imo, the best track in his mix. That pissed me off

^ Yeah man, the amount of amazing moments they ruined by either Tong or that chick spouting some shit ovet the top is unreal. It's like they waited for the most inappropriate moments when all you want to do is loose yourself in the tune and then dropped the VO...crazy

I generally agree although the metrodance voice over is quite good in my oppinion as its on beat nd comes at specific moments and boosts my musical high...like in the 03.24.07 Hernan's metrodance (my personal fav). It comes at the peak of a tune and "your listening Hernan Cattaneo" just sends shivers down my spine....well thats me anyway, but yeah Tongy is quite anoying.
p.s. its gonna take them years to do all the essentials again...

Personally think Tong's voice makes the EM so special.

Classic one is during Digweeds 1999 e-mix, when Tong pipes up during Science Dept-Repercussion, right on cue during the breakdown - quality bit of voice over

The worst one has to be Sasha on Bondi Beach with all the Aussies talking about what a wonderful time they are having. I never listen to this mix because of it.

I don't really mind it..He usually has good things to say....Now, those Italian people that always announce who the dj is and all that shit during a breakdown every track need to be strangled with the mic cord....
