    New Orleans

    Found this to be interesting....

New Orleans flood-control system not as advertised

The maps showed that the improvements made to the city canals' drainage systems would reduce flooding during a major storm by about 5.5 feet...But in a report released November 7, Corps scientists estimated that the actual benefit the system would provide would be just 6 inches.
...mistakes were apparently made in the calculations for two sub-basins that include Lakeview and nearby neighborhoods. In one, a minus sign was used instead of a plus sign..

    whoopsie!
oh well, plus sign...minus sign...they look close enough!

Come on now... If everyone moved away from an area that could be afflicted by a natural disaster, there would be no where to live.

maybe we need to invade new orleans and establish a democracy.

You can't have manslaughter without laughter.

"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl."

buenos aires is a nice place to live (at least from a natural-disaster point of view :P) we dont have major issues besides some minor floodings...

well but you could say that living on a known fault line that will produce major earthquakes is also a bad idea...and yet California is the most populous state in the nation...
