"but most likely because it didn't follow the "standard" good vs bad story ending"

that is the reason they DIDN'T do that kind of ending...it would be to traditional. Fuck Tradition!

they didn't do that kind of ending cause the book didn't, and they were smart enough to stay faithful to it! cormac mccarthy is a hell of a writer. why change his stuff?

Saw this last night and agree with all the comments thus far. Weird ending, great acting from Bardem (isn't he nailing Penelope Cruz??). decent storyline.

I was also kind of hoping that Brolin would have a showdown but alas it wasn't to be.

What I don't get - when he finds the money at the start, why doesnt he just leg it and run? I know he goes back to give the guy water, but even after that (and after he is chased) he could still get on a plane and clear off?

Resurrecting the thread AGAIN as I just read the book today.

Quality writing from McCarthy. Way better than The Road which I didnt love as much as others. I would love it if people actually talked the way they do in this book!

nice. i loved the book more than the movie, but the movie was still off the charts brilliant - and i still watch it. i keep telling my friends if they've never read the book, the ending will seem a bit wack.

i just watched this again a few weeks ago. i love this flick and the language is great. tommy lee jones is a smart ass in this, you just gotta really pay close attention to even pick up on it. also javier bardem is still so fuckin creepy in this, it is nuts.

                        watched it today.

damn good movie. wasn't expecting it to be anything special, but i love how they left out orchestral arrangements.

it is cool how quiet it is, it adds to the tension. seeing it in the theater, and the hotel scene....that stuff was intense.
