well I'm in this combat skills training course before I get deployed and part of it is becoming a Combat life saver. We had to learn about and demonstrate our ability to administer an IV. I'm talking about a 1 day course on IV's and then actually have to give one to your buddy. kinda crazy to say the least. i didn't have any problem but there was people passing out and peopl freaking out etc. i thought it was amusing. Just thought I'd share

My friend works in the ICU Burn Dept in County USC... When he's got a bad hangover, he goes into a doctors closet and gives himself an IV, in matter of seconds, he's A - OK!.

Giving myself one would be pretty weird. I didn't realize how thick that catheter is.
But on the other hand I didn't realize how strong veins were. very cool

I appreciate it man. On top of that, yesterday we had a combat drill with explosions and gunfire and averything and I had to administer one in the field to this guy and bandage him up and put him on a litter and our team had to escort him unconcious through all of these obstacles. Talk about a workout. I though My heart was going to explode. It was an awesome experience. You learn a lot about yourself with that kinda of thing.
