    Supporting the Troops?

The flap from the CNN/YouTube GOP Debate regarding the gay retired soldier who evidently supports Clinton prompted me to go back and rewatch that part of the debate. This highlighted something that I guess I didn't really notice the first time around.

For all the talk of "supporting the troops," and the constant insinuation that being critical of the administration was tantamount to treason, this retired brigadier general -- who has 43 years of service to our country -- was publicly booed for, as far as I can tell, being a gay soldier with the audacity to question the "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Lemme see -- if you believe the administration, I'm insulting the troops by disagreeing with Bush, but it's perfectly OK for the Florida GOP members in attendance to boo someone who has devoted 43 years of service to the country -- over half of his life -- because he's gay?

    Come on.
