Looking forward to popping a bottle of Chateau le Redortier Cotes du Rhone tonight. Great big earthy red with a smooth finish, perfect for a cold fall/winter's evening...

^we're in the same region tonight. opening a bottle of domaine de la becassonne, cotes du rhone, white.

poaching a couple of salmon filetsin white wine and capers and a side of baked cauliflower (the only way to eat cauliflower imo) and a salad.

I have yet to find an acceptable way to eat cauliflower. Broccoli and I are finally starting to come to terms with one another, but cauliflower and I still cross to the other side of the street to avoid coming to blows. We have a yearly peace summit where I give it a try to see if my taste has changed, but I always end up making a face like a 6 month old eating peas and spitting it out on the dinner table. Not pretty.

cut the crowns, dust them with olive oil (or not), and put them in the oven. baking cauliflower brings out it's rich sweet flavor. pull them out of the oven when the crowns start to turn golden at the tips. I was once on your side of the fence with the cauliflower, but it's one of my favorites now.

I dunno. I just had some towards the end of the summer, so cauliflower and I are not due to meet up with one another for quite a while. Not sure if he'd even take my call, as rough as I've been on him since that last meeting.

Then again, I've never even heard "rich sweet flavor" in the same sentence as cauliflower, so maybe I can butter him up with that bit of news.
