Re: Most reliable and inexpensive site to purchase cdjs
Yeah, I've been looking at a few of Pioneer's authorized on-line sites. There are a few that offer a per-order price of $629.00
I'm really struggling to decide if I want to wait a month and purchase this or just go ahead and purchase the 200s now. (Can I even go a month without CD decks?)
I already put my cmx-3000 on e-bay and have enough cash for either one. The question is, are there enough new features on the 400s (besides the scratch feature which I imagine I would rarely use) to make it worth the extra $300 a deck?
Any reasoning or suggestions considering none of us have used the 400s?Comment

Re: Most reliable and inexpensive site to purchase cdjs
I'd get the 400s over the 200s, you get the vinyl emulation on the platter which is extremely useful when using CDs. It looks to be nice and small, has room to grow with certain features incorporated into it, has that USB connectivity, and it looks sexy AND it's the latest and greatest from Pioneer. Can't go wrong no?
Plus, PSSL will have it by the 26th...
I have a pair of the 800 MK1s, bought em about a year before the MK2s came out. Had I known, or had there been something just new announced, I would have sprung for the newer version. But that's my two cents. For your aural infusion of Caley:

Re: Most reliable and inexpensive site to purchase cdjs
^ Yes, I agree with you. I've put a lot of thought into it today and I think I will try and go with the 400s. It will be hard to go a month without CD decks though, guess I'll have to jump back on the vinyl for a bit so I don't go crazy.
I did read PSSL's 'expected availability' being December 26. I'm not doubting this but after I read that earlier today I looked all over the web and could not find any confirmation for that date. In fact I could hardly find any information about US availability at all. There's not even a press release on the pioneerprodj.com website like there is on the pioneerprodj.EU website.
There seems to be loads more information about the CDJ 400 specs, cost, and release date in Europe and the rest of the world but Pioneer's US website hardly mentions any information (even general information) at all.
Has anyone read anything that would confirm this? I'm thinking of pre-ordering but I don't want to if it's going to be released much later. Is it normally like this for Pioneer to keep their US release date such a secret? (I am very anxious to get these!)Comment

Re: Most reliable and inexpensive site to purchase cdjs
From my experience, Pioneer has always lagged on the US website... all the announcements were always on the foreign pages.
As far as date, you could call PSSL to verify. For your aural infusion of Caley:

Re: Most reliable and inexpensive site to purchase cdjs
I just read that the CDJs don't offer a real time track- WAVE display like the 1000s or my current cmx3000.
Are the CDJ 1000s and the CMX-3000 the only pioneers with wave display?
This is somewhat of a disappointment! I use the wave display all of the time on my current CD players.I suppose that is something I will have to get used to!Last edited by pr0ficient; December 15, 2007, 01:14:36 AM.Comment

Re: Most reliable and inexpensive site to purchase cdjs
Mate has the same problem with the wave display..he bought the 1000's mkII's as his first cdj's and spoiled himself really as he relies on the wave and if he now goes to a deck without the display he has to rely on his knowledge of his music which isn't his best asset.
Personally I have been looking at the 400's aswell as a first setup..with a possible upgrade to the 1000's later in 08 but Im not entirely sure if the midi equaliser and the usb functions will be more useful to me as the majority of my music is kept on HDD. hmmmm....
Need a good full review of these 400's me thinks.Comment

Re: Most reliable and inexpensive site to purchase cdjs
i'm SOOOO glad I never got those 1K's as my first decks. I'd end up relying on that wave display along with the BPM counter on my old 600 too. And that would be terrible for playing elsewhere. You need to put some tape over that display to learn to break that habit and learn that almost all good house music has it's own time rules, just follow those for the most part and you'll be fine. That and start listening to the singles all the time instead of sets from others. It'll help out better than anything.Comment
