this info made it to snopes:

Four refueling tips supposedly help consumers get the most from their gasoline dollars, but how useful are they?

i tried all the tips outlined above a while ago for a good period of time. it seemed to increase my gas mileage average by almost a mile per gallon. really not worth it for me since i fill up once every other week and i barely put 10k a year on my car. ifyou drive a lot, it may come in handy. there's more bang for your buck if you accelerate slowly and steadily and don't drive fast, though.
Should I fuck you at that not until the ass, inject then tremendously hard bumschen and to the termination in the eyes yes?

I am sure most of you already realize...but the optimum speed for maximum gas mileage i believe is around 55 or 60 mph...the faster you go the worst it is...

and agressive driving makes you gas mileage go down real quick

so far peeps here in florida havent slownn down yet so i guess gas prices arent that big of a deal

The easiest thing is to get cars with smaller engines instead of using those huge V8s and getting 2mpg.

Yah, but compared to living in places like california, you are hardly ever driving. I spend 1/2 as much on gas here in Florida as I did in California...the infrastructure is so sh*tty here the society at large doesnt drive as much...in SoCal you have 6 lane highways everywhere enabling you to drive all the time because you can pretty much be any and everywhere at once...it is all relative...

It was fun while it lasted...

Joe's Chevron - Crescent City, CA $4.499 (Diesel is $5.299)
Fort Dick Market - Crescent City, CA $4.559
                  Union 76 - LA, CA $4.559 (Diesel $5.399)
                  Exxon - Greenwich, CT $4.599
                  Union 76 - Barstow, CA $4.699
Shell - Stamford, CT $4.699 (Premium is $4.899 there incidentally)

I did this as much out of my own curiosity. Gas varies widely in Los Angeles as you can see. Kinda strange.

Prices courtesy of gasbuddy.com and are current as of the last 48 hours.

If that is per gallon you are still a lot better off than we are. We are around 1.60 a litre at the moment, works out to roughly $7. gallon.

Another great tip for saving fuel is to keep your tires fully inflated. Underinflated tires are usually the biggest drag on gas mileage after speeding/unnecessary acceleration.

Yeah, we still use gallons. Pretty lame. I heard that the US and like only two or three other countries are still dragging their feet on the metric system.
