Depends on which line you have. Look for reviews. Some of them are ass.

I'm with beaner on that..... have read disastrously mixed reviews, but then again most external drives have had shitty reviews. However I am pro WD so will still give it a go, regardless of reviews.

My take? Buy the HD in a store as opposed to online. IMO when they ship these drives via courier, at the warehouses of the major shippers, they're tossed in and out of the trucks, thats why a MAJORITY of the reviews on places like newegg are shitty. I've bought nearly every drive I own at a store (staples, circuit city, etc.) and have had decent luck with them (knock on wood).

Of course now that I've praised them, I'll probably have all my drives crap shit on me

^ ^ That happened to me with my Maxtor 250GB drives. I'd had them for years. Everyone and their mama was bagging on them and mine were working excellent until one day... I heard a noise... one failed. Then within a week, more noise, another one failed... and I realized "Oh shit! I've got six of these." Then a few days later... another one failed...

That fucking sucked ass. Oh well. What can you do but laugh?
