How are you guys downloading from megaupload??

Ok this probably belongs in the computer forum but thought it might get more response in here.

So how are you guys downloading from mega, did you install the toolbar? I can't get ANYTHING because I don't have the toolbar installed and don't plan intend to.

Is there a new workaround like hacking your Firefox's config? The old hack no longer works.

You know, for me, I realized nothing is free. Either we pay for the use of file sharing sites by money, or advertisement we view, or popus/popunders, and worse of all tricky was the sites install tracking cookies to learn where we go so they can seek advertising on the popular web sites we use.

So I choose to pay for the year in advance at a discount for rapidshare, and buy the premium from megaupload. Both of which make those sites just great. I use mulitple links at one time, never bombed with ads or any thing else. No wait times, etc.

Seems everyday a new file site comes on the internet, and they are all there to make money, so its a matter of how we will spend our money to use those sites services.

Sorry if I can't answere your question any better than that. When I bought my premium from Mega, it was equivalent to buying 5 CD's a $20 dollars each. I have used the service for far more than that $100 I spent on the service. In the long run, I'm the winner for spending the money a couple years ago.

There are a bunch of good sites, which less intrusive ways of getting their adv money, mega and rapid just seem to be fast, reasonably priced, and used by alot of ppl.

I caved and bought a rapidshare 3 month.. i am prob going to renew tooo..

as for the megaupload, i avoid it.. or wait out like other people.. i try to download from work if its a multiparter

I never have any trouble downloading from megaupload apart from the dl speeds arent as good as other websites.

im still using the free service for megaupload and rapidshare ... need lots of patience and remember the refresh button is your best friend cos the slots get filled up fast ...

i get better speed for megaupload compared to rapidshare ... megaupload usually goes for 50-100kbps while rapidshare goes around 20-40kbps

With the premium on both rapid and mega, I'm getting usually min. 70 - 100 kbps, and maybe a 3rd of the time, I'll get over 200kbps and the set comes in about 5 min. Maybe the time of day when less people are hitting the servers. They are both great for me, but mediafire gave me a bunch of Barish Turker sets from his blog in great time, without any hassles at all. Thats a great free site.

Rapidshare is the fastest, I can always download up to 6-700 Kbyte/s. Megaupload only 2-300 Kbyte/s. With free service of course. The absolutely worst is the sendspace...I hate the senspace. It's hard to get a free slot, and the max download speed is around 50Kbyte/s.

agreed... i just gave into rapidshare myself and paid 10 bucks for the month. it's worth it for that because of the high dl speeds. bottom line, just pay for it... you will be glad you did!

as for mega, well, try patience. and register for an acct because then the wait time is shorter for those with a registered acct, even if you haven't paid.

Agree with everyone here, you gotta pay.
It's too time consuming otherwise, tried the toolbar
but did not seem to offer to noticable an improvement.
Yet there are some site out storage sites like gigasize
which most people do not have a problem with, unfortunately
it falls on with whom the uploader of the file likes to use
on MS it tends to be Mega or Rapidshare, maybe a sticky thread
on which storage sites are most user friendly would help or a MS poll on the same subject.

ok peeps, the fuzzfather shall share a tip with y'all! its simple! install the toolbar, download, when download is complete , REMOVE as in uninstall the toolbar!

100% agree, you pay for it one way or the other. I'd rather choose how my bucks are spent.

Oh,, I find some of the smaller sites are hella fast sometimes for me at work.

uploaded.to comes to mind.

i like sendspace cause its the easiest, 300mb files, and the link is easy.. but your right.. sometimes its slooooooooooooow. like 40kbps.. cm'on i can pull 10MB at work, don't tease me.
