[ms] member Troklo was kind enough to interview M.A.N.D.Y. (with a special plug for [ms] ) and give us the opportunity to post the interview here. Check it out
Me: I am now with Philipp from M.A.N.D.Y. after a great set at Flex in Vienna. I would like to know what are your impressions of the night.
Philipp: Hello mercuryserver. I had some problems at the beginning. I just woke up and came straight to the club, but people were very supportive. I was here a year and a half ago with Patrick at the time, now all by myself and it was still great. I'm sure weīre going to come back and thanks for dancing.
Me: You had a great response to your At The Controls CD. Can we expect something as good in the near future?
Philipp: That's a tricky question (he smiles). We just finished a Fabric CD and its due to come out at the end of January. It took us so long to do, thatīs one of the reasons I didnīt sleep last night but we are very happy with the result. So, you should be surprised of whatīs coming out.
Me: I can only imagine how hard it is to keep your material fresh being on the road all the time. How do you manage that?
Philipp: I think its just a decision you make, so the little time you have, you spend it on going in the record shops or downloading new tracks. Itīs hard to keep up with your social contact, because it takes up all your time. I mean itīs not a secret this is what you choose and you have to dedicate yourself 100% to it, even if itīs hard at times.
Me: Can we expect some new tracks from M.A.N.D.Y. any time soon?
Philipp: Weīre going to go to the studio in February, you know take some weeks off touring and hopefully in this time we can produce some quality music.
Me: OK that brings me to my next question. You and Patrick tour all the time. Does that affect you guys at the moment you go into the studio?
Philipp: I guess that, like in all long time relationships, there is a blind understanding. We have known each other for more than twenty years now and like in every other relationship there are problems but you just talk about it and at some point itīs OK. You just listen to the music and always try to focus on the same things. One thing is sure, itīs more fun to produce together.
Me: Thank you for answering my questions, and I hope you come and visit us at www.mercuryserver.com.
Philipp: Thank you very much for the support mercury lovers we see us at the page.
