Me and a few of my dj friends knew someone who let us use a venue for ~ $40. We booked ourselves, printed flyers and promoted the event; enough people showed up that the owner of the venue said we could do it again.
The sound was fantastic and everyone's sets went down nicely, every one of us played on a different medium (vinyl, cds, laptop, "Torque"). I threw down a 2.5 hour set and everyone else played on average a little above one hour (I got smashed after my set so I can't really remember exactly).
I played progressive/tech house and after that the others played dnb and hardcore. It was good to have an event because the electronic music scene around here is pretty lacking. Overall it was a great time and I look forward to our next one.
Anyone ever throw their own events/ have similar success?
